The 19C saw some unusual scheduling such as these two Quakers' games.  Morning in Boston, afternoon in Providence.  They actually traded places with New York, that club doing the opposite.

The Quakers lost a tough one to Boston, 4-3.  They had several chances to pull this one out, but Whitney held fast and won the game.  The Philadelphia's put men at the corners in the eighth frame with their young stars Ferguson and Crowley due to bat.  Ferguson took a walk to first but Crowley could not do the job.

Jim Whitney allowed John Morrill to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
as the Boston Beaneaters defeated the Philadelphia Quakers by the score of 4
to 3 at South End Grounds.

Boston took the lead for keeps in the 5th inning scoring one runner. Boston
had 10 hits for the afternoon.

Whitney(10-4), allowing 3 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Charlie
Ferguson(8-3) was tagged with the loss. He gave up 10 hits and 1 walk in 8
innings.

Again played this one with CF in CF.

Then it was over to Providence to face Radbourn and the soaring Grays. The home team took the lead in the first frame and never looked back. It was the fifth straight loss for the Quakers who seem to be lost recently. They have not been played inspired base ball as they were doing earlier. Perhaps it was the train travel, but that is no excuse for a poor effort.
