Charlie Ferguson allowed only 3 hits resulting in a big goose egg on the
scoreboard for Boston at Recreation Park as the Philadelphia Quakers beat the
Boston Beaneaters 2 to 0.

Ferguson(8-2) was simply too much for the Boston batters. He was stingy on
the mound, allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings reducing his ERA from
2.89 to 2.60. The pitchers took over after the 3rd inning as neither team
was able to score again.

Jim Whitney(7-4) was charged with the loss. He gave up 6 hits and 1 walk in 8
innings. 'He came out with good stuff,' Harry Wright said about Ferguson.
'He threw the ball good from the first pitch on.'
