It was a beautiful afternoon at Recreation Park as the powerful Buffalo club took the field and quickly worried the home team crowd. Four tallies were recorded before Mr. Ferguson was able to retire a batter. It was very quiet as the Quakers came to bat in their half of the inning. But the home team rallied for six and the battle began. Center fielder Richardson brought home two of his mates with a mighty blast in the top of the second frame, once again quieting the home town followers. Pitcher Ferguson started a Quaker comeback in the bottom of the frame as three runs crossed the home plate to put them ahead by one, 8-7. Purcell brought McClellan home in the third for a 9-7 lead. McClellan continues his fine hitting this season. O'Rourke of the visitors quickly tied the contest with a blast over the fence scoring pitcher Hagan to tie the score at 9. Both teams held fast until the home team came through in their half of the eighth inning. Ferguson singled with one man out. His battery mate Crowley, with three previous hits, came through with a long blast for three bases, scoring the speedy Ferguson with what was the winning tally. Crowley came home on Farrar's fly out, and the home team blanked the visitors in the ninth. The battery of Ferguson and Crowley were cheered by the happy home team cranks.
